Your sun sign is just one planet in your star soup. Curious about the rest? Contact me for a natal chart reading.
Happy birthday Virgos!
Virgo, goddess of harvest, archetypal sister of Demeter and Persephone. It is time to work and thresh, humming between rows of towering plants. We need to be outside to understand this constellation. Virgo lives in verdure, in sun and wind, in dry rustling grasses and dawn footsteps crunching to the creek. Make your home beneath tree and star. Wash your face in the singing river.
Virgo becomes so consumed by her work that she forgets to breathe or rest, but she is hardly just a worker bee. She is an empress of agency and bodily sovereignty, maintaining crisp boundaries in the name of self-empowerment. What is the real meaning of virginity? What is this spiritual power? It is the power to decide when and with whom to share one’s body. Virgo the Virgin is not anything like what you’ve been told. She’s not uptight or haughty or nitpicking. She is in total control of herself and her destiny, and for this we are eternally grateful.
Virgo is ruled by Mercury, the fleet-footed messenger god. Here the mind is racing, forever in analytical overdrive. Virgos need to process everything verbally. The Virgo life flies quickly with many moving parts. Expect this cycle to be, as always, insanely busy. It’s the season of harvest and going back to school. Feel this seed sprouting in your stomach, this excitement aching in your phalanges; a stinging, mercurial anticipation.
So many changes take place during Virgo season. This transit is about practice, devotion, and perspicacity. Virgo is here to help us monitor, sort, and categorize. She is also here to strike a balance between work and rest, between duty and repose. She demands continual and discernible improvement within and without, and that means in the realm of self-care too. What does improvement in self-care look like? Less judgment, less rigidity, and more spaciousness. Virgo also increases awareness towards our body and what we put into it. Now is the best time to (re)commit to regular exercise and healthy eating.
Hours before Virgo Season begins on Aug 22, we have Full Moon in Aquarius #2.
Sep 6: Sun trine Uranus Retrograde in Taurus. This is a very happy social influence. Highly stimulating. Sep 6 is going to be an insanely busy day. It is the New Moon in Virgo, coinciding with a harmonious trine between Mars & Pluto and another trine between Venus & Jupiter. Get PUMPED.
Sep 14: Sun opposite Neptune Retrograde in Pisces. As though in deep sleep, we move forward into the future without knowing the details. This opposition can cause pain, fatigue, or disillusionment. The last time this transit occurred, I had nightmares, woke up with a headache, and then went to work and discovered that my entire classroom was coated in ash from the wildfires. Also first day of Mars in Libra, which should help a little bit.
Sep 16: Sun trine Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn. A scorpionic day, intensely self-focused. This is ultimately a cathartic and grounding influence, but it feels like one hell of a journey while it’s happening. This aspect last occurred on my birthday in May. I woke up listening to Cat Stevens and had a good cry. I felt heavy but was also so ready to transform, so ready to free my mind. Extreme emotional release and relief.
