Mercury in Libra ☿ 2024

This year Mercury in Libra falls entirely within Libra Season. Together these planets will conduct a thorough review of our relationships. Mercury in Libra is a master class in communication and co-existence. Libra examines the development of will; independence; adaptability; passion; and the embodiment of power in its highest form, which is at once personal and universal.

In my opinion, the emphasis on relationships makes Libra Season one of the most difficult of the year. Expect a higher level of social dysfunction and miscommunication during this cycle. The good news is that the laser focus on relationships & communication means that we get to work some shit out and put old patterns to rest. In this way, this cycle ultimately improves relationship to Self and others.

We are either a) getting in deeper and closer with existing community or b) opening up to new scenes and relationships. Which relationships are unhealthy or stagnant? Which relationships could stand to be better nurtured and cherished? We will have to work hard to cultivate peace and cooperation. We will have to be both assertive and tactful. Honesty is the keystone of this airy queendom.

This archetype falls right in the middle of the zodiac wheel and as such represents compromise and pacification of polarities. The scale, however, is rarely level. Libra vacillates wildly as she is pushed and pulled by a multitude of voices. Here lies Libra’s infamous indecision. She swings in the wind, tortured by immeasurable empathy and the fruitless endeavor to please everyone at once. She gazes far into the future, down every path, chronically doubtful and unsure.

A major yet rarely discussed element of Libra’s identity is that of the mystical crystal-gazer. It is she who prepares us to enter the waters of Scorpio, and this transition from activism and social justice to scorpionic depths is not so abrupt once we familiarize ourselves with Libra’s supernatural attributes. Libra comes from the oracle Themis, Greek goddess of divine law and the first oracle of the ancient temple of Delphi. What happens when we disregard her psychic wisdom? Nemesis, goddess of retribution, pays a visit. In English the word nemesis is synonymous with enemy, but apparently those we consider problematic have been sent to us because we have ignored the counsel of demiurges such as Libra/Themis!

By the time Scorpio cycles begin in late October, we need to have achieved proper distance from energy vampires. Scorpio transits are advanced inward expeditions and we can’t afford to lose energy to relationships which drain us.

It is time to be powerful; authentic; honest; loving. Choose assertive over avoidant behavior; reconciliation over suppression; self-validation over external. It is possible to accommodate others while still respecting our own needs <3

Sep 30: Mercury conjunct Sun in Libra. Gold star day; highly productive, synergistic flow. The best day of the cycle to get things done. All things going well on the relationship front too; excellent communication.

Oct 2: New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra 

Oct 6: Mercury square Mars in Cancer. Pain, discomfort, or injury common in the body.

Oct 8: Mercury trine Jupiter in Gemini + Venus in Scorpio trine Mars. Very high energy and productive, although we are prone to overdoing it. Jupiter’s influence is more expansive than it is realistic. Major social energy swirling with Venus/Mars trine. Can be explosive or interruptive.

Oct 13 (last day of transit): Mercury square Pluto in Capricorn + Sun trine Jupiter Rx. Pluto’s influence is heavy and stagnant. Mind unclear; inner turbulence; fatigue; interruptions and disturbances. However the sun/Jupiter trine helps ease the flow of energy. Jupiter brings together friends from all over the world. We are collectively moving through issues slowly but surely.
