Soul forest freshly burned, ravaged by the carnelian flames of the Aries sun, lay on this earth now. Let your heartbeat take you down, your breath down, down into the pungent soil. All is still, all is tranquil. A giant, silky cow ambles into view, making her way through a sun-streaked meadow. Climb on her broad back. Feel her warmth course through your veins.
Taurus season is about home and feeling at home. It makes me think of wabi sabi, a Japanese concept best translated as balance between internal and external; peace and equilibrium. It is synonymous with divine simplicity and natural beauty. Wabi sabi is drinking tea with a friend in silence, or watching a bear scratch its back on an evergreen clinging to a misty mountainside.
The cow can be graceful like a tender young branch, but she’s not naturally flexible. She puts her roots down prematurely or in the wrong spot if she is too stubborn to try harder, to explore, to consider other options. Balanced Taurus overcomes inertia to carry her weight uphill with expertise. She keeps climbing, though her pack grows heavy. She refuses to settle, even when it would be easier.
Taurus is ruled by Venus, Goddess of Love and Leisure. Beloved Venusian luxuries include delicious food, comfortable spaces, fine clothing, etc. Taurus has strong opinions about value. She wants a life of absolute quality. Taurus revels in indulgence. She can be deeply attached to money and material possessions, more than she would like to admit.
When her material life feels threatened, Taurus starts to panic. Everything must be just right; Taureans will fuss over things that others consider minor details. It’s true that we’ll be focusing more on money during this cycle, but we can also use this prodigious earth energy to clean, organize, plant a garden, or get creative. Channel it into your home/domestic life and make positive changes here.
The first day of Taurus Season coincides with an extremely energizing trine between Mars in Leo and Neptune in Aries. However you will soon see that Mars (and Pluto) are the thorn in Taurus’ side this year as they both stir up trouble in Leo and Aquarius respectively, the two constellations which square Taurus.
