Happy birthday unicorns!
Sagittarius crackles into view. Weary traveler, turn toward this new horizon – see the fiery rainbow centaur spiraling towards us. Mutable energy gathers momentum exponentially. It’s time to MOVE and let adventure take precedence. Celebrate the first day of this season with Sagittarius Yoga.
Sagittarius is very different from Scorpio season. Not so many deep, dark feelings. Sagittarius is still spiritual in nature, just in a more philosophical, curious kind of way. The spirituality of Sagittarius is found in the questions we pose, the ethical debates, the seeking, the wondering-wandering.
The mythological kin of Sagittarius are all the fat, jolly beings who sprinkle our stories with laughter. Sagittarius is a dancing, luminous pegasus. He wants nothing but good times and happiness, late nights, and carefree conversation. Sagittarius removes doubt and hesitation and replaces it with confidence, will power, and joy.
Sagittarian reality is sparkly and full of ponies, a very fantastical place. The centaur is a creature of light with patent charm and enthusiasm – hard not to love. His greatest challenge? Slowing down long enough to breathe and examine the details.
Though it is difficult for the centaur to acknowledge heavier aspects of life, the great thing is that once he does, he is the most uplifting guy in the room. Sagittarius wants healthy change. This cycle teaches that we cannot say or do whatever we want for personal gain; our quest is collective and spiritual. We cannot be aloof in the face of injustice; we have a moral obligation to care and make change. We cannot exclude; all humans must be treated with respect. We cannot succumb; we must gather our inner fire and rise like a mighty phoenix above greed and apathy.
Where can we hold our thoughts more lightly? Maybe at school or work? In our relationships with family or friends? We can bring Sagittarian lightness, forgiveness, and forward motion to many areas of life, including ourselves.
Neptune Retrograde ends on Nov 28.
Full moon lunar eclipse coming on Nov 30.
Mercury joins the Sagittarius party on Dec 1.
On Dec 9, the sun squares Neptune. Deep sleep comes, but we’re moving forward into the future without knowing the details. Prepare to watch (or talk about) something strange or haunting.
On Dec 10, the sun gets a mighty boost from a trine to Mars in Aries. This fiery influence brings resolution and friendliness.
New moon solar eclipse on Dec 14.
Venus joins the Sag party on Dec 15.
On Dec 16 and Dec 19 respectively, Saturn and Jupiter make BIG MOVES into Aquarius – can’t wait to tell you more about that soon – look for upcoming posts.
Lastly, the sun meets up with Mercury for a conjunction on Dec 19. Very copacetic day.
The archetype of Sagittarius is all about generosity, so the word “thanksgiving” is appropriate for this time of year, but fuck Thanksgiving – we need to call it by its real name, the Day of Mourning. Do not forget what happened on North American land, or what continues to happen, here and elsewhere on earth. White people living on colonized lands are unwelcome guests. This makes it even more imperative that we protect the earth and one another. Take care of the water, take care of the soil, take care of your neighbors.
Sagittarius takes us right to the winter solstice (Dec 21), the darkest day of the year. Thank goodness for Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius: the massive gas giant in our solar system who gives off more light than he receives from the sun. He glows, and so do you!
