First Quarter Moon in Pisces ☽ Dec 19, 2023

The Sun in Sagittarius squares the moon in Pisces. Moonrise at noon, peak at dusk, moonset at midnight in all time zones.
The moon will stay in Pisces until early evening Dec 19 before transitioning to Aries for the next 60-hour cycle. This transition is like moving from the shadow of sleep to the light of dawn: highly energetic and invigorating. The moon is waxing, gathering momentum for fullness. Get ready for a Full Moon in Cancer on Dec 26 (this will be the 1st moon phase of Capricorn Season but last full moon of 2023).
First quarter moons are important decision points, bringing forward vital information for the full moon. This quarter moon follows the New Moon in Sagittarius on Dec 12.
At quarter moons I always mention the possibility of turbulence. When Sagittarius and Pisces team up, the vibe is swirling and anxious. Pisces is the queen of wishful thinking, Sagittarius the starry-eyed hunter of the cosmos. Pisces swims in dizzying spirals; Sagittarius burns through time and space, destination unknown.
The fire of Sagittarius demands that we look forward and create a plan. Pisces has an important role to play. She can either uplift the entire process with the practice of surrender, or she can stir things up with her scaly fish tail and plunge us into a murky cloud. Choosing the high road here means giving in to the inevitable, to what is. It also means that we need to manage expectations and refrain from getting our hopes up too high. Fighting the inevitable saps our energy. And we need our energy!
The highest manifestation of Pisces is rest and reflection. Without rest, Sagittarius Season is one long, exciting marathon of energy spurts and burnout. Paradoxically, Pisces is not known for getting great sleep at night. If possible, immerse yourself in hot water. Avoid screens before bed; choose books instead. Take care of your immune system, take care of yourself! Practice self-compassion and slow living. Deep fatigue, body aches, frustration, and illness are all very common at Pisces junctures.
Heads up: we will already be one week into Mercury Retrograde at this moon phase, so expect all the usual shenanigans and plan accordingly.
But! this moon phase is well supported by two outer planets. The moon forms a harmonious sextile to Pluto in Capricorn and a close conjunction to Neptune in Pisces. Support from outer, slower-moving planets indicates longterm success. Things are falling into place, creating a sense of security and longevity. Neptune, ruler of Pisces, brings a highly spiritual, mystical vibe to the scene.
Heavy rain…misty mountains…strange dreams…secret oceans…unraveling slowly…
