Capricorn Season 🐐 Winter Solstice 2022
Dec 21, 2022 (Winter Solstice) – Jan 20, 2023
Your sun sign is just one planet in your star soup. Curious about the rest? Contact me for a natal chart reading.
Sagittarius Season comes to an abrupt close after racing fast and furious through the sky. We’ve been zipping all around on rainbow unicorns, thoughts racing, ideas expanding faster than ever.
In the final quadrant of the zodiac, we arrive now at Capricorn the Sea Goat. As the last earth sign in the wheel, Capricorn represents the culmination of everything we’ve been working on since the spring equinox. It’s time to review, make modifications, then forge ahead with more focus and clarity.
Capricorn season coincides with all kinds of holidays and traditions around the world. The most emblematic is the Winter Solstice. This is Capricorn’s debut, after all. Think about what it means, the fact that Capricorn arrives on the darkest night of the year. This is not the darkness of Scorpio, not the darkness of autumn cometh or Halloween. This darkness is not seductive or intimidating. The earth goes to sleep; light slips through our fingers; the cold sets in. How incredible that sleep and stillness hold so much power. This is the seed-like nature of Capricorn, vibrating with life even while deep in hibernation.
The sea-goat moves at one of two speeds: insanity or total stillness. If you, like me, have lots of earth energy in your chart, overcoming inertia feels pretty impossible at this time of year. Please sleep. Spend time in the sun. If you are feeling overwhelmed or depressed, try incorporating ginger, citrus, cinnamon, or other spices or hot chilies into your diet. These will help keep your energy elevated. Take hot baths. Pick up a book. All creative work encouraged per usual, but I know how hard it is to create when you’re not feeling inspired.
Capricorn is associated with aspects of life like work and business, but the most important work that Capricorn performs is bringing the light back. Capricorn is so driven that he doesn’t even notice the light returning by his very own hand – he just keeps moiling away with impressive force.
Heads up: the winter solstice coincides with a sharp square between the sun and Jupiter in Aries. This is a highly restless aspect. Productivity comes in fits and bursts.
Dec 23: New Moon in Capricorn 🌑🐐
Dec 29: Mercury Retrograde begins ☠️ + Quarter Moon in Aries 🌓🐑
Jan 1: Happy New Year 2023!!! 🎉✨
Jan 5: Sun trine Uranus Retrograde in Taurus. Warm & cheerful, grounding yet pleasantly unexpected.
Jan 6: Full Moon in Cancer 🦀
Jan 7: Sun conjunct Mercury Rx. Conjunctions to Mercury when retrograde tend to increase the chaos. Get lots of sleep beforehand and prepare for exhaustion, anxiety, and stress.
Jan 12: Mars Retrograde ends! ✨
Jan 14: Quarter Moon in Libra 🌗⚖
Jan 18: Mercury Retrograde ends! ✨ + Sun conjunct Pluto in Capricorn. This conjunction is very intense on a physical & emotional level. Vivid dreams, rebirth of mind/body/spirit.
Capricorns, as to the ridiculously high expectations and standards you have for yourselves: relax. Let it flow. Free yourself from your internal binds. Silence the inner critic.
The winter solstice officially takes place at 1:48 Pm PST on Dec 21. Take a moment to look up at the sky and welcome the light back. Light up the solstice with Capricorn Yoga. In meditation, focus on the root chakra.
