Planets in retrograde are not spinning backwards – it is an optical illusion as seen from Earth due to the fact that planets travel at their own respective speeds around the sun. In astrology, this illusion manifests as a “backwards” functioning of the planetary roles. Click here to learn more about retrograde.

Uranus first entered Taurus in 2018 and will remain here until July 2025. Uranus turns retrograde for five months every year. This will actually be the last Uranus Retrograde to fall completely in Taurus for the next 80+ years because Uranus will enter Gemini briefly next summer! But for now it’s time to review Taurus-Uranian lessons from 2024. Taurus the bull represents home, money, and material resources. It has never been more obvious that we must change our relationship to the earth. We will live lightly on the land, use only what we need, and share our resources.

Uranus Retrograde lifts long-forgotten veils concealing incendiary, insurrectionary spirits inside. When Uranus turns direct again, we will set this new self free, once the subtle restraints and inhibitions of the retrograde have faded into the solid earth.

Uranus is social and collective in nature. With Uranus Retrograde in Taurus, we reimagine concepts of wealth and reallocate wealth to the community so that it is no longer concentrated in the hands of the privileged. This is true also of cohabitation. We will live together more and more, sharing land and dwellings. With proper allocation, everyone will have their needs met.

Retrograde cycles uproot jobs, relationships, perspectives, and behaviors which have calcified over time and no longer represent our highest vibration / what we need / who we are. You will feel more restless during the coming months but certainly not lost. New levels of conscious awareness are rapidly attained under such conditions. Uranus systematically peels away all that is false until we are more rebellious and independent, more sure of our path.

Let’s talk about Uranus in relation to the outer planets. This planet is very well-situated in Taurus at the moment. Saturn and Neptune are both in a very sympathetic sextile position in Pisces for the next 3 years. And then there’s Pluto Retrograde, who will soon be back in Capricorn for a few months and provide excellent earth support as well. The most exciting thing on the Uranus horizon is this planet’s transition to Gemini next summer – stay tuned!!

Heads up: the first day of Uranus Retrograde (Sep 1) coincides with Pluto Retrograde backtracking to Capricorn. Mega earth day.
