Mercury in Pisces ☿ 2023

Mercury rules communication and the throat chakra. When Mercury the Intellect swims in Pisces’ emotion-ocean, the heart opens to the mind. Pisces is all about love, creativity, and imagination. This is the best time to gently address all that has been internalized over the last year. How can you capture your thoughts/feelings/memories? Which creative medium suits you?

Mercury governs mental processing. Pisces is a scattered influence for the mind. Life will continue to flow in mysterious directions. At first it will feel muddled, like a swirling whirlpool, but soon it will crack open and reveal itself. Envision your neural pathways refreshed, adorned with jewels and coral.

Pisces people tend to have a contentious relationship to the idea/practice of self-care. Pisces gives until nothing remains, not even stores of energy meant for herself. This leaves the fish chronically depleted in mind, body, and spirit. Allow yourself and other fishy friends to marinate in introversion. This is how we rehabilitate, regenerate, and revitalize the spirit. Pisces is sensitive, yes, but not weak. What we need is music and dancing. Also remember to stay hydrated and spend time in/near water if possible.

Animals associated with Mercury include the rooster, ram, goat and tortoise. In Pisces, the tortoise smiles shyly from Mercury’s breast. The fishes are sage, ancient, glacial in pace. In Native American astrology, Pisces belongs to the Frog clan. She is also associated with turquoise and all shades of blue and green. Meditate on the slippery frog, hibernating at the bottom of the pond, waiting patiently for spring to come. Meditate on the myriad hues of the ocean. Feel lapis droplets beading on your skin, gathering around your third eye, trickling to your toes. Let the waves wash everything away, leaving beautiful empty space for the flames of spring.

Mar 16: Mercury conjunct Neptune “at home” in Pisces + Mercury square Mars in Gemini + Venus square Pluto + Sun square Mars. Holy shit you guys, it’s going to be an extremely powerful day, not to mention that it’s the apex of this Pisces transit. And yet it’s decidedly sleepy, lazy, exhausting. This is when we must pass the ultimate Pisces test: to internalize or speak our truth? To stuff it down or let it out? To hold on or let go?

Mar 17: Mercury conjunct Pisces Sun. At once extremely productive and cathartic, gold star day.

Mar 20: Spring Equinox + Mercury conjunct Jupiter. This conjunction is interesting. On one hand we have energetic, expansive Jupiter propelling us on new journeys to new places. On the other we have the fact that all of this is occurring in Pisces, a constellation which demands rest and relaxation. The trick is tuning in to our body to know when it’s time to slow down.
