Mercury in Cancer ☿ 2025

Mercury rules the mind, thoughts, communication, and social world. For the last week, Mercury has been spinning “at home” in Gemini. This transit brings significant movement and activity each year. Friendships and relationships are more important than ever during Gemini Season. New plans are in order. Gemini also conjures anxiety and nervous energy, so we’re learning not just how to use this wind to our advantage, but also how to tame it, how to calm the mind, relax, breathe deeply.

The summer solstice is nearly upon us my friends. Astrologically speaking that means we are entering Cancer Season.

Cancer is the season of healing, when the mind synchronizes with the heart, when the heart whispers to the mind what they have both known to be true all along.

The crab represents home, belonging, roots, and family. With Mercury in Cancer, the mind wanders softly to the past, to home, to family. This is a cathartic and deeply emotional cycle. Conversation will center on home and childhood.

Cancer is a gentle archetype. The crab is a perfectly happy domesticated creature, a homebody, a cat lover. She is sweet as summertime rain; protective, prudent. Her waters soothe and nurture. As the oracle of healthy self-talk, she will help us carefully yet earnestly ask ourselves the hard questions. This transit lives in the heartbeat; listen closely.

June 9: Mercury square Saturn & Neptune in Aries + Venus square Pluto Retrograde + Jupiter enters Cancer. Such a potent day with fire (Saturn & Neptune in Aries), earth (Venus in Taurus), air (Pluto in Aquarius), and water (Mercury & Jupiter in Cancer) ALL at play. This intensity will show up in the body as well as in strong emotional responses. Tread lightly. Power and control dynamics up for review; major emotional toxicity to release! Also fatigue, mental fog, headaches – all common when Neptune is aspected in a square.

June 15: Jupiter square Saturn in Aries. Saturn, force of conservation, must reckon with Jupiter, force of expansion. This square is all about our conception of how capable we are. Many opportunities will come our way – and we are perfectly qualified! – but will we self-sabotage out of fear and doubt? Will imposter syndrome keep us from saying yes to life-changing new directions? Saturn’s influence (aka massive pressure!) indicates a period of major growth. This is an excellent time to take risks and start something new, we just have to believe that we are capable. New chapters, new careers, new everything. No matter what, we will exit this square feeling more mature and more prepared to handle the inherent difficulty of life.

June 18: Quarter Moon in Pisces + Jupiter square Neptune in Aries. Lots of mutable energy swirling around here (Sun in Gemini, Moon in Pisces, and then Jupiter & Neptune, rulers of Sagittarius and Pisces respectively – we’re only missing Virgo here!). We’ll be so restless that it will be necessary to go out and dance late into the night. The Jupiter-Neptune squares launches the mind far, far into the future. Sparkling visions of what could be are rapidly becoming reality now. And you know what, some things are working out even better than we had planned. This square represents a critical juncture in which we can both celebrate our progress and continue to catch glimpses of the future, arriving faster very day.

June 20: Summer Solstice / 1st day of Cancer Season! 🌻
