Happy new moon, happy solar eclipse! This total solar eclipse will be visible from Australia and the South Pacific. It is called the Ningaloo Eclipse.
You may recall that we had a New Moon in Aries on Mar 21. Like many astrologers, I believe that the Spring Equinox is the true New Year, as is the New Moon in Aries. So get ready for round 2 of some fiery spring / new year magic!
An eclipse never comes alone. Solar eclipses arrive two weeks before or after a full moon lunar eclipse. Two weeks after this solar eclipse (May 5), we have a Total Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio!
This eclipse comes on the last day of Aries Season 2023, just 4 hours before the sun enters Taurus. It is no doubt paradoxical to have a new moon at the end of a solar cycle. Think of it as a revisitation of the first New Moon in Aries. This is a divine opportunity to revise – shake it off, try again – and forge ahead with more confidence and wisdom.
This is the vibe: explosive, volcanic, seismic, then beautiful and refreshing, flowey, fresh morning sun, blood flowing with clarity.
Aries is the magic of birth, creation, fire, adrenaline, springtime, sex, testosterone. Aries is first, newest, brightest, angriest. Beginnings are not for the faint of heart. To encounter the new is to encounter the unknown. Aries teaches us to act and just fucking do it instead of thinking. The longer we stand there thinking, the less likely we are to act.
So letās make our move again, but with more empathy this time, with more caution, with more of what Aries lacks. The danger of Aries has always been – and shall always be – the tendency to burn it all down with one careless misstep. We can be perfectly fearless and independent and still be kind; we can be bold and yet still wise.
I just made huge moves in my life. I quit my job as a Montessori teacher. I separated from my partner of nearly 7 years. I sold my car; I gave away my beloved pressure cookerā¦and then I moved to Mexico City.
What seems most urgent at this time is my own happiness – feeling the Aries much? Somewhere along the way I forgot myself, I forgot what it was to truly enjoy life. And now Iām flying on the golden Aries ram, through the clouds of smog to the distant volcanos. I canāt help but ask, why not? Why fucking not?
What has become so heavy that you canāt bear it anymore? What is longing to come out? Who are you longing to be? What do you need to throw away to be lighter? Take deep breaths, close your eyes. How long can you walk on the coals?
Excellent news: this total solar eclipse will form a loose conjunction to Jupiter in Aries. Jupiter brings luck and good fortune, as well as excellent vibes; definitely a planet you want nearby during an event such as an eclipse.
