Mars in Taurus ♂ 2022

July 4 – Aug 20, 2022
Mars: fiery warrior of the solar system, ruler of the body and all its carnal urges. Mars channels fresh, invigorating energy into the body, like the first day of spring. With Mars in Aries since late May, we have felt martial essence in its purest form, coursing through the veins of humanity. Mars in Aries brought action and movement. There have also been some incredibly frustrating moments with some uniquely headstrong individuals. Ego and anger bubble up quickly here.
And now for some really good news: Mars is landing softly in the garden of sensual Taurus. Mars in an earth sign brings determination, abundance, and stability. Mars spins with vigor in Taurus until all of our energy has been properly channeled. Then we transform into a boulder: sublimely grounded. When we do move, enormous amounts of work will be accomplished. Mars in Taurus is pragmatic and driven. Once Taurus sets to work, she moils with impressive force. Mercury is also making moves into water sign Cancer, so we have a really nice earth and water bed to catch all of our decolonized tears on the 4th of July.
Taurus comes from Hathor, the Egyptian goddess of fertility. Hathor holds the entire cosmic cycle in her being. With one hand Hathor delivers babies, and with the other she welcomes the newly dead with delicious ethereal food and drink. Hathor is the goddess of music and happiness, dancing joyously across the necropolis; protector of miners and turquoise; guardian of the desert; rattler of the sistrum; steward of the earth, nestled in a papyrus marsh beneath the Milky Way, Nile of the Sky. More festivals were dedicated to Hathor and more children named after her than any other Egyptian deity. Hathor not only embodies the cycle of life, but also the spectrum of gender. Both men and women could be priestesses of Hathor. Classically Hathor is depicted with a sun disk set between her cow horns, as Horus the sun god is said to be “housed” within her.
Something truly awesome happened during the Age of Taurus in the third millennium BC. The Milky Way aligned at the fall and spring equinoxes so that its ends touched the earth exactly where the sun rose and set. It was at this time that Hathor became intimately associated with the Milky Way. Our ancestors saw a sacred cow in the sky, funneled into the earth below, imbuing humanity with her gentle power for eons to come.
July 26: Mars square Mercury in Leo. Awake and alert. This influence encourages us to take action and stop procrastinating. It’s a change point. Watch for bodily discomfort or injuries (common when Mars is aspected in a square or opposition).
Aug 1: Mars conjunct Uranus in Taurus. I see this conjunction as the apex of the entire Mars in Taurus transit, but it’s never what we expect. Think all things technological, futuristic, and Uranian-Aquarian, including the unexpected. Minor mishaps and miscommunications likely. Avoid screens and spend time outside. We will feel super drained by any screen time.
Aug 7: Mars square Saturn Retrograde in Aquarius + Venus in Cancer trine Neptune Retrograde in Pisces. The day starts out nice and dreamy, high vibes, eazy breezy. But then a change of plans; stagnancy; deep fatigue.
Aug 14: Mars trine Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn + Sun in Leo opposite Saturn Retrograde in Aquarius. The day starts with a grieving heart; feelings of dejection. Saturn’s influence is heavy and stagnant. Then spooky, sexy dreams shimmering in the waning summer sun. Happiness and exhaustion by the end of the day.
