Falling halfway through Cancer Season, the New Moon rises slowly above the crab’s tender ocean. Cancer is a water sign representing home, both interior (inner life and emotional security) and exterior (roots and physical space).

The crab is as changeable as the sky, sometimes misty, sometimes cold and rainy. New moons in her waters come as a deep inquiry. Cancer wants to know if we truly feel at home. She wants to know if our heart is healthy and happy. Do we have friends, family, support? Are we resting enough? Are we listening to our bodies? Is communication flowing?

The word moody comes right from the moon, ruled by Cancer. Lunar energy is the way of the heart, the way of the human, where emotions push and pull the spirit in mysterious directions, just like the tide, ebbing and flowing endlessly beneath the full moon.

The New Moon in Cancer is about home, roots, and family. Dig deep and see what you find. I think we’re looking for our inner home. Comfort. Love. A feeling of ease inside. A feeling of righteousness. The power of Woman.

Fear rises, then retreats.

With open hearts and tongues we talk through our differences. We reconnect with our mother, especially the one inside, the Divine Mother who guides and whispers prophecies. Bury yourself in the sand at the beach, reconnect to the earth. Deep release. Stand close to those who make you feel calm and worthy.

This year the new moon forms a loose but very beneficial trine to Saturn Retrograde in Pisces. Saturn’s influence is grounding and stabilizing, like a mighty oak. His presence indicates success on a longterm scale. Healing & clarity coming our way.
