The nurturing Cancer sun squares the fierce moon in Libra. This first quarter moon follows the brilliant Summer Solstice + New Moon Solar Eclipse in Cancer. First quarter phases clarify. When cardinal constellations work together, it is time for centering and realignment.
The first quarter moon rises at noon, peaks at dusk and sets at midnight, no matter your time zone. Luna enters Libra on June 27 (the day before the quarter moon) and will stay here through June 29, then move on to Scorpio. The moon completes her revolution around the earth in 29 days but since the earth is also moving around the sun, the moon completes her revolution through the zodiac in just 27.33 days. The moon is waxing, gathering momentum. Late on July 3 she transitions from Sagittarius to Capricorn for another full moon lunar eclipse.
Cancer and Libra stir our emotional anatomy in the best way. I see reunion and tender tears of joy. I see humans embracing. I see enchanted mirrors, reflecting your sparkles back to you. This quarter moon will oppose Chiron in Aries but at the same time form a friendly trine to Venus in Gemini (no longer retrograde at this point). Chiron is an asteroid, the Wounded Healer. It seems that the Libra karma we’ll encounter at this quarter moon is meant to heal our own emotional body just as much as the collective. The trine to Venus (ruler of Libra) is so helpful too. Venus is a smoothing agent – she brings charm and grace to the table.
The other thing I want to mention is another conjunction between Jupiter Retrograde and Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn, coming the day after this quarter moon phase on June 29 (and then again on Nov 12). Power dynamics are shifting rapidly with Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all in Capricorn. Toxic corporations and fascist governments are being challenged in a real way right now. The message is clear: we need to rebel against racists and dictators. Libra and Capricorn are eternal allies – together they demand justice and responsibility. Channel these archetypes – show up for your rainbow brothers and sisters. Don’t stay silent.
